Eighteen-year-old Scarlet Benoit is introduced in the second book of The Lunar Chronicles. In Scarlet, the second book in the Lunar Chronicles, which was published on February 5, 2013, Marissa Meyer continues the thrilling adventures of Linh Cinder, a cyborg and mechanic.
This tale starts in Rieux, France where Scarlet discovers that the police have given up on her grandmother’s missing person case. She later meets a mysterious stranger who goes by the name of Wolf. Wolf agrees to help Scarlet search for her missing grandmother, and they end up finding that there’s a mastermind behind all of the bizarre attacks on Earth.
In Scarlet, we are also introduced to Carswell Thorne, a man in prison for protesting about soap, and a pilot who is tagged as Cinder’s accomplice. They escape prison together and get the villain, Queen Levana, riled up about their plans to overthrow her.
Marissa Meyer’s personal website states that the whole Lunar Chronicle series are NaNoWriMo (National November Writing Month) novels. It encourages writers to write a 50,000-word novel in November and can be a great start to writing a good novel.
