Legislative Day-Coming Soon!!!

BLPA- Legislative day allows GT (gifted and talented) students to visit the capital and learn about our state government, helping the students of today become our leaders of tomorrow. According to Ms. England, it’s “a chance for GT students to see the government and what it’s doing for them.”

In order to participate on February 22nd, GT students needed to fill out a registration form. However, if they wanted to shadow a senator for a personalized look at the US government, they needed to write an essay. Shadowing a senator would be really interesting because you could see what it’s really like to be a government worker. Although this is Ms. England’s first year participating in the program, she hopes that from the experience, students will, “at the very least, get an understanding of their state government and know that their voice matters.”

To some students, it might seem boring, but it will be a really eye opening experience. Legislative Day is a unique and exciting event that will give students a look into the complex world of politics. It will inspire students to look into a career that will benefit not only our state, but our whole country.
