BLPA- Every student knows about parent/teacher conferences - meetings between a student’s parent and the student’s teacher throughout the school year. These meetings are productive, but are they necessary?
I think parent teacher conferences are necessary. For instance, it is important for the student’s teacher and parent to bond, to create a safe environment for the student. Also, the teacher and parent see two different sides of the student, and it is effective to meet and go over how the student behaves at home and at school.
There are many cons to having parent teacher conferences. Some people claim the meeting can be done over phone or email, instead of making the trip to the school and back home. The parent can also look over their student’s report cards to go over their grades.
While there are some reasons why we shouldn't continue parent teacher conferences, there are many more reasons why we should.
