BLPA - On Saturday, January 27th, at 1:00 in the afternoon, the BLPA high school boys, known as the Stallions, took on Skyview Academy from Denver, Colorado. The Stallions walked away with an impressive win, 49 to 43, but the game was difficult to actually win. During the fourth quarter, both teams had the lead several times, but after AJ’s two jump shots and his free throw for 5 points, he sealed the game away. The defense stopped them from scoring any other points, and they walked away with a win-loss ratio of 4 and 7. AJ G., the team’s starting point guard, had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 3 turnovers. For a new high school team, I say that is really good stats.
The Stallions’ boys’ high school basketball team has improved so much since the beginning of the year, with their shots, ball handling, and overall basketball I.Q. Coach Wes McKenzie, the head coach, has high hopes for playing varsity teams to win a state championship in BLPA’s first senior year. Bringing home the trophy for the first-ever state championship win will make the students love the school even more. Make sure you come out to support your high boys’ basketball team next game, on February 7 2,018 at 5:30, at Falcon High School.
