The Importance of Sports at BLPA

BLPA-Although academics are the main focus at Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy, athletics are also found to be extremely important for character building. According to the BLPA website, “Athletics at Banning Lewis Academy are considered an integral part of a student’s educational experience.”

What makes sports so important to the culture at BLPA? I asked one of the students involved in sports to tell me why sports matter so much. According to Palmer R., “Being in High School basketball is like being in a big family.” There are also many opportunities that can come from athletics, such as scholarships and job opportunities in the future.

Overall, sports are very important at BLPA. They encourage sportsmanship, collaboration, and positive thinking. While we are still working on building our teams and reputation at BLPA, we’re off to a great start.
