BLPA- National History Day is coming up, and many students around the world are preparing for the friendly competition. Every year, students participating in National History Day research a topic in history within the theme and create a project presenting this information. The project can be in the form of documentary, exhibit, paper, performance, or website.

The contest will be held June 10th-14th at the University of Maryland, College Park. Anyone in 6th-12th grade can participate. To get involved, go to nhd.org. There, under the tab titled “students,” you can learn how to create and submit an entry.

The theme this year is conflict and compromise in history. This theme was selected to give students the opportunity to not view history as just facts and dates, but to have their own understanding and perspective.

This competition can be great for students to discover new ways of viewing information they might have overlooked in History class.
