The Beautiful Lost, written by Luanne Rice with cover photography by Michael Frost and cover design by Elizabeth B. Parisi, covers a topic that most authors may be scared to share and write about. Luanne Rice the author created a character named Maia. Maia struggles with depression after her mother left her at a young age . Maia also struggles with her body image after comments that she was ugly and fat, which led her to a point in her life where she wanted to end it all. I do have to say that the author could have done better job explaining the characters and maybe could have shown what the other characters felt about the setting they were in. I believe that the author did a very good job with this story and giving good focus about how Maia felt in this time in her life.
