Olympic Figure Skating

SOUTH KOREA-This years’ exciting Winter Olympics of 2018 is being held in South Korea. Alina Zagitova and Evgenia Medvedeva - training partners with the same coach - are both competing in figure skating to win the gold medal. Both skaters have bonded well together in the competition and are friendly with each other.

Medvedeva and Zagitova both have family who do figure skating. Zagitova’s younger sister Sabina has also competed in skating, while Evgenia's mother first got her out on the ice and was a Russian figure skater.

Both started figure skating at an early age; Zagitova started at age 13, Medvedeva while started at age 3. Zagitova is now 15 years old, with Medvedeva being 18 years old. The competition is huge with Zagitova being younger but having more experience, and Evgenia being older but not skating as long. It was very surprising when Zagitova the younger and inexperienced of the two, beat Evgenia’s personal best by 5.38 points.
