FORT CARSON-Before noon on Sunday, March 4, firefighters rushed to the fast-moving fire near Fort Carson’s Gate 5 and Highway 11. It was estimated that the fire burnt 700 acres of land. The fire is still being investigated. Altogether, there were about 400 people affected. People were told to evacuate out of their houses to prevent inhalation of smoke. When wind picked up, the fire started to move, and helicopters were called. The helicopters got water from a nearby golf course pond to douse the land in water. Officials monitored the land overnight to make sure that there would not be anymore ‘‘flare ups’’ in Fort Carson. Luckily, overnight, there were no flare ups, and they didn’t have to put out another fire.
