The book, Sword Thief, by Peter Lerangis, author of the Seven Wonders series, is the third book to the 39 Clues series and is remarkable and extremely interesting, with developing characters and their relationships.

Amy and Dan Cahill are the protagonists in the series, whose parents had mysteriously died in a fire when they were little. After their grandmother’s death, they are sent on a wild hunt after clues that will make them the most influential people in all of the world’s history, if they succeed without getting killed. I, personally, think that the whole start of the series went incredibly fast, but then it slows down as Amy and Dan learn what they are supposed to do to win.

In the Sword Thief, the siblings travel to Tokyo, Japan with their uncle, Alistair Oh, and the three of them find an hint with their cousins, Ian and Natalie Kabra, and head to South Korea. I did not like the part where they teamed up with the Kabras because so far they had done pretty well at finding the clues, but then you learn that Amy and Dan could have never found the clue without the item that Ian and Natalie possess.

When the group went to Alistar’s house, he started a game to get the kids to find the clue. This was a great idea because the Cahills got to learn what the whole hunt is about. After they found the clue, the Kabras show their true colors. As soon as Dan “showed” them the next location they left, collapsed the cave entrance, and left the others for dead.

Alistar was able to get Amy and Dan out of the cave before the cavern collapsed on him. Dan revealed that the location he showed the Kabras was wrong, and he showed his sister the correct word which revealed the true location of the next clue.

The 39 Clues: The Clue Hunt is a book series that has many authors including: Rick Riordan, Gordon Korman, Patrick Carman, Judy Blundell, Linda Sue Park, and Margaret Peterson Haddix.

If I had to rate this book I would give it a 9.5/10 because the Kabras are pure evil, and Amy and Dan got to learn what the whole hunt is about, and the whole plot line of the book was good.
