As we are moving into a world of new opportunities and technology, more and more students are asking themselves the question: is traditional school for me? The answer for many students has been no. Online school is proving to be much more than just lounging around in your pajamas all day and sitting around on your computer (although that is an added benefit).
The decision to switch from traditional school to online school depends on the individual and their needs. Online high school can provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for those who are unable to attend traditional school, or prefer to go at their own pace. There are extremely flexible schedules and students can even graduate high school early depending on their motivation. The classes are also personalized and tailored to the individual. Students who are looking toward the future can take classes on parenting, life preparation, and career classes such as interior design or business on top of their core classes, all depending on their passions.
That being said, there are a few cons to it. Unlike traditional education, there is not always 24/7 contact with your teacher and you must be completely self-motivated. There is also little to no social interaction most of the time. However, with the flexible scheduling, high school students can get jobs to prepare and save for future education and life after high school, and get plenty of interaction that way.
Overall, it all depends on the individual and their needs and ambitions. Moving forward, it can also be reassuring to know that there are other options available and there are more to look forward to in the future.
