COLORADO SPRINGS-The Hacienda Colorado is a mexican restaurant with a 4.2 star rating on Google. Having a middle to high price tag on their food, some food is only mediocre for the price. The food on the vegetarian and seafood side is not very good and there are only a few options on the menu. Having tried the portobello mushroom and shrimp fajita, they are very bland; this would only have about 2.5 out of 5 stars. The shrimp platter has only a few shrimp and about four to five times more vegetables, which is consisted only of sauteed onions and green peppers. The appetizer menu is above average, including the ahi tuna salad and the queso with a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Their dessert menu is small but offers a very good selection. Their fried ice cream is one of the best, having a fried outer coating that is very crunchy. The caramel topping was absolutely amazing, having the perfect balanced flavor. The ice cream is easy to fall in love with, having a great vanilla taste.
The restaurant building, over all, is beautiful, with a second floor having an open patio with a burning real wood fireplace. The views of the mountains were spectacular from the main and upper levels. Over all, this is not the best mexican restaurant for seafood and vegetable options, but works well for appetizers and dessert.
