New books are coming out, and they’re coming out quick. Let’s leave our old, overrated books behind and read some new 2018 books that go above and beyond the charts in the “book world” competition.
1. Science Fiction - Obsidio (Illuminae Files #3)
Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff come together to create this uniquely written trilogy, telling the story through written emails, military files, IM’s, medical reports, and any other way that can take off from the standard of ‘average writing’. Many book lovers have loved and been interested in the series for quite some time, considering most of the reviews given are 5 stars. The story is set in 2575, with two rival megacorporations at war; now, Kady and Ezra (who are barely even talking to each other) are forced to fight their way onto a evacuating fleet with an enemy in hot pursuit. The action within the book is on fire, leaving you on the edge of your seat with every turning page.
2. Fantasy - War Storm (Red Queen #4)
With two blood types (the Reds and Silvers) battling against each other, what could possibly go wrong? Victoria Aveyard is a magnificent writer, but has an ability of her own; to emotionally damage people with her writing. Red Queen tells the story of Mare Barrow, who lives in a world where those with silver blood are the superiors and reds are the forgotten; she one day find outs that she has the ability of a silver but the blood of a red, giving a rise in the red-blooded union. The story follows Mare and her journey on saving the reds, as well as dealing with problems that are arising through the conquest. If you want a good cry over a book, or are craving an emotional rollercoaster ride, this book is the one for you.
3. YA/Dystopian - Restore Me (Shatter Me #4)
Tahereh Mafi was going to end her series as a trilogy, but the blessed book-gods broke upon her that she should make another book. Juliette, a damaged teen, cannot touch anyone for the risk that she will kill them. Warner, the son of a ruthless and cold hearted military leader, decides that one day that she would be the perfect weapon for his army. In the four-book main series, your thoughts and being will be overtaken. Mafi does an exceptional job at dealing with real world problems and putting it into Young Adult writing for a better understanding and teaching for kids, all while tying her captivating story into a perfect bow.
Books are a great thing to get into, especially when we can expect great new books in 2018.
