Into the Gauntlet, by Margaret Peterson Haddix, is the exciting second-to-last book in The 39 Clues series. The book is full of family-drama and realizations.
Dan, Amy, and Nellie head off to London, England where their only clue ends up in the hands of the Kabras. Dan used his amazing memory that I wish I had.
When they arrived, a representative from each branch of the family was there and ready to get the next lead. Dan stole the clue from the Starling triplets using his “ninja skills”.
The siblings headed to the Holy Trinity Church where they spent the rest of the day searching for a clue. This part was confusing because everyone was working together and Ian was acting funny.
On the last chance to get the final clue Dan and Amy head to Cahill Island. I think the other branches cheated because they placed a tracker and followed the siblings instead of figuring it out themselves. Dan and Amy became the hero that the readers had hoped for.
Over all this series gets a 10/10 and Into the Gauntlet gets a 9.5/10 because of the way each branch cheated to get Dan and Amy’s leads.
