GARRY BERRY STADIUM- A high school track meet took place April 27, which included all the main high schools: Pine Creek, Liberty, Doherty, Manitou, Banning Lewis Prep, Sierra, and Coronado. All together, there were 33 teams there. “I think we did pretty well. We had a smaller team this time.” Katelyn S., one of the runners, explained. Since there were many teams there, Banning Lewis did not place. Katelyn ran the 400 meter dash and the 800 meter sprint medley relay. Her opinion on the events were, “I think I did better in the 800 medley, because later throughout the day it became hotter and that messed with everyone.” She also said that the team could improve on “not making excuses and following through the whole thing. If you are not going to run, then why did you sign up for track anyway?” All together the track team could have done better if they ran all the way through the finish line and finished hard. The high school only has one more meet left in Salida, and it will more than likely be really hot, so bring your sunscreen to and come to the next event to support your school!
